Alopecia

Possible Causes of Hair Loss 2023

Are you or someone you may know thinning or suffering from Alopecia?

First, Alopecia simply means “hair loss” it can happen at any given time and have several causes such as; genetics, stress, Auto-Immune Disease, personal hairstyles (braids, twists, ponytails, weaves, etc.), hormonal,, medical, environmental, scalp disorders, anxiety, and etc. Consultations are recommended to identify with one of these causes.

These are some of the causes of hair loss that are affecting the overall human race today, however, the #1 and most common cause of hair loss that is affecting 30% women and 50% men is genetic. Androgenetic Alopecia is a genetic condition, caused by a chemical in our bodies called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). As our bodies break down testosterone it becomes DHT and travels through our bloodstream and attaches itself to the base of the hair follicle on the Androgen receptors. Androgen receptors pass food and oxygen into the follicle. When DHT is attached the follicle cannot get the nutrition and oxygen that it needs to grow or survive and ultimately the follicle begins to shrink in size and hair grow in thinner.

The chart below identifies with the female and male pattern baldness. If you are showing any signs of hair loss such as these you are a perfect candidate for a consultation/ hair analysis. Plant based hair care is available to assist with arresting DHT and allowing the androgens to receive the nutrients and oxygen needed to help your hair grow in healthier and fuller.
